What is a squishy hunt?
A squishy hunt is a trip, or a string of trips, to find squishies you do not have yet: new designs, hard-to-find ones, or simply whatever is on the shelf that week. The squishy haul is what you come home with, and the unboxing is when you show it off. Search for “squishy hunting” and nearly every top result is a video with titles like “Squishy Hunting At Target” or “hit EVERY store”. The hobby is as much about the search as the toys.
Most of the fun happens before you buy. Most of the disappointment happens after, when a haul is opened and something is not what the listing promised. This page is about that second part: how to hunt online, and what to check the moment the box arrives.
Hunting online: what replaces the store run
Online, the “shelf” is a collection page. A new-arrivals page is the closest thing to walking in and checking what is new, pack and set pages suit a haul bought as one box rather than one piece at a time, and our Squishy Box Sets page holds the mystery boxes, where the surprise is the point.
We do not publish restock dates on our listings, so we cannot tell you when a design will come back. What we can tell you is how to read a listing so the haul matches what you expected.
Read three things before you add to cart
1. The count in the name. Of our 1,076 active listings, 209 put a pack size in the product name, from 2 pieces up to 60. The 12 Pack Ghost Squishy Set says “12 mini squishies in assorted Halloween shapes”; the 12 Pack Avocado Squishy promises “a dozen” avocado halves. That number is what you count against when the box arrives.
2. Whether you choose the design. Some listings tell you up front that you do not. The Halloween Butter Squishy is sold as “1 Random Piece, Random Design”. Others say exactly which version ships: the Crystal Apple Squishy description mentions cyan, green and pink, then states “this listing ships the green gel”.
3. Whether it is a mystery box. Mystery boxes such as the 8-Piece Squishy Mystery Box come with a different return rule, covered below. Know that before you open one on camera.
The squishy haul unboxing checklist
Do this before the squishies go into the collection, and keep the packaging until you are done.
| Check | Compare against | If it does not match |
|---|---|---|
| Count | The pack size in the product name | Incomplete order: contact us |
| Design | “Random” in the listing, or the design it says ships | Random pieces are random; a named design that differs is an incorrect order |
| Rise | Only the rise the listing actually describes | See note below |
| Skin and seams | Splits, tears or leaks | Damaged order: contact us |
| Everything that arrived | Pieces, inserts, packaging | Keep it all; returns should include it |
A note on rise. Most of our listings describe a squishy as slow-rising without giving a time, so there is no number to hold them to. A few do give one: the Golden Dumpling Squishy “climbs back round in about three seconds”, and the Kawaii Avocado Squishy 2 Pack “takes about ten seconds to fill out again”. Check against those words, not against a video of someone else’s haul.
Photograph anything that looks wrong before you squeeze it further. Photos of the parcel and the product are exactly what we will ask for.
If something in the haul is off
If you film your unboxings, that footage is your best record. If the count is short, a named design is wrong, or a skin arrived split, stop there, note which piece it is, and keep the footage or photos along with the box. Our returns and refunds page is where an incomplete, wrong or damaged order gets reported, and it lists the steps and time limit.
The one rule hunters trip over is mystery boxes. Once a box is opened, pulling a design you already own is part of the gamble, not a fault, and it will not go through as a return. A piece that is missing or split in that same box is a different matter and is still worth reporting.
FAQ
What is a squishy haul?
A squishy haul is a batch of squishies bought in one go, from a store trip or an online order, usually unboxed and shown off together. Squishies hauls are popular on video, where people open each piece and squeeze it for the camera.
Can you go squishy hunting online?
Yes, it just looks different from a store run. Start with a shop’s new arrivals page, then pack and set pages if you want a bigger haul in one box. Read the count, whether the design is random, and whether it is a mystery box before you order.
Can I return a mystery box if I do not like the design?
Not for that reason alone. Once it is opened, a design you did not want is part of how a mystery box works. If the box arrived short, split or with the wrong contents, report that through our refund page.
