Twelve months of viral squishy searches in one table
Viral squishies went from a niche search to a mainstream one in about four months. In the United States, searches for “viral squishy” ran at 110 a month in September 2025, passed 18,000 in March 2026 and peaked at 40,500 in June. Dumpling squishies drew the most searches of any shape, peaking in May. Butter followed the same curve a little lower, cheese peaked earlier, and slush, bread and wax squishies were still rising in August.
Every number here is a monthly US Google search estimate from DataForSEO, pulled on 30 September 2026 for September 2025 through August 2026. These figures are rounded into bands, so treat them as the size and timing of a trend, not an exact count. They show when interest rose. They don’t show why, and we won’t guess.

Shapes that peaked and cooled
Dumpling. The biggest curve by far. Searches jumped from 8,100 in November 2025 to 301,000 in December, dipped in January, then climbed every month to 1.83 million in May before falling back to 673,000 in August. Even after the drop, August was still hundreds of times September 2025.
Butter. Almost the same shape, about a third of the height. It crossed 300,000 in March, held 550,000 through May and June, and sat at 368,000 in July and August.
Cheese. The early riser of the food shapes. It jumped from 9,900 in January to 74,000 in February and peaked at 201,000 in March, two months before dumpling and butter. By August it had roughly halved.
Capybara. A smaller trend that arrived early and stayed flat. It went from 2,900 in January to 18,100 in February and March, then held at 14,800 every month from April to August.
Taba. The odd one out. Taba squishy searches were already at 110,000 in September 2025, the highest starting point of any term here, and moved between 110,000 and 301,000 all year. That looks less like a spike and more like a steady interest level.
Shapes still climbing in August
Three terms hit their highest point in the last month of the data:
- Slush squishy climbed almost every month, from 20 searches in September 2025 to 8,100 in August 2026.
- Wax squishy climbed from 90 to 3,600.
- Bread squishy went from 480 to 8,100 and held that level from June to August.
These are small next to dumpling, but the direction is the opposite. If you’re wondering what the next viral squishy is, these three are where the numbers were still moving up when the data ends.
The general terms follow the same arc as the big shapes. “Popular squishies” rose from 110 to 12,100 in May and June; “trending squishies” from 50 to 4,400 between April and June. Both were lower again by August.

Same trend word, different squishy
A trend name tells you the shape, not the feel. Our butter listings are a clear example. The Butter Stick in the photo above is described as soft foam you can pinch in one hand. The Soft Butter, same $12 price and nearly the same printed wrapper, is a translucent yellow bar described as soft gel. Both are “butter squishies”. One dents and refills like foam, the other flattens like jelly.
Slush works the same way. The Pink Slush Apple is a glossy apple filled with milky pink slush that shifts when you squeeze it. The Green Apple Slush, from the same range, is described as an even yellow-green skin with a semi-matte finish that takes a deep thumb dent and slowly comes back, which is closer to a slow-rise feel.
And capybara is a character, not a material: the Capybara Bubble Squishy is a round orange capybara with a small translucent bubble on its snout.
