Big Cheese Squishies: How Big Is Jumbo, and How Does It Squish?

How big is a big cheese squishy?

On our shelf, the big cheese squishy listings that give a measurement say about 4 inches. Our Cheese Squishy collection has 36 listings; 9 have big, jumbo or giant in the name, and only two of those give a number. The rest use hand words such as “needs both palms” or “bigger than a fist”, or nothing. So “jumbo” signals intent, not a size you can check with a ruler.

The cheese blocks that give a size

Four cheese listings in the collection give a size. Two of them are the “big” ones; the other two are regular blocks, which makes a useful comparison.

ListingSize word in the nameSize givenHow the listing describes the hold
Big Cheese Cube Squishybig, jumboroughly 4 in“plenty of block to fill both hands”
Jumbo Cheese Squishy, Big Two-Hand Squeeze Toyjumbo, bigroughly 4 in“sized to fill both hands”
Cheese Block Squishy, Marble Swirlnone8 cm (about 3.1 in)a foam cube for the desk
Swiss Cheese Block Squishynone2.4 in“right in your palm”

Read side by side, the jumbo size is about 1.7 times the 2.4-inch block, and a little under an inch more than the 8 cm cube.

Some of the unmeasured big blocks use hand words. The Giant Cheese Squishy is “bigger than a fist” and “fills both hands”; the Jumbo Cheese Squishy, Big Two-Hand Block “needs both palms”. At the other end, the Mini Cheese Cube is “pocket-sized” and the Small Cheese Squishy “slips into a pocket”.

If size is the reason you are buying, pick a listing with a number. If it is not, the “both hands” versus “pocket” wording is a fair guide to which end of the range you are on.

What is inside a jumbo cheese squishy?

Foam, wherever our listings say. Of the 36 cheese listings, 19 mention foam, and three of those name the material as PU foam: the Yellow Holey Cheese Block, the marble swirl block and the Pizza Cheese Wedge. None of the 36 mention gel, liquid, fluid, jelly or beads. If you want a squishy cheese block with a gel or bead fill, our cheese shelf does not describe one.

The listings that do not name a material describe the feel instead: “doughy”, “plush”, “marshmallow-plush”, “dense but giving”.

How a squishy cheese block squishes

The listings describe three different returns after a squeeze:

  • A slow rise you can watch. The yellow holey block “puffs back over several seconds”, and the marble swirl block “puffs slowly back over several seconds”.
  • A heavy fold, then a slow climb. The giant block “folds, holds, then lumbers back to a cube”.
  • A dent, then a bounce. Several of our plainer cheese cubes describe the Swiss holes that “dent, then bounce back”, such as the Jumbo Cheese Cube.

Why the holes matter

The holes are not only for looks. They change where your fingers go. The Cream Cheese Block has “deep round holes” that “grab a fingertip, then let go”. The Jumbo Cheese Cube has “shallow, dimple-like holes” on every face, so there is less to poke into. If you like poking into the block, deep holes are the ones to look for in the photos.

A couple of cheese squishies add a moving part: the Cheese Mouse Cup has a tiny mouse that “peeks out when you squeeze”. It is a different toy from a plain block, and not one of the big ones.

FAQ

How big is a jumbo cheese squishy?

The two big cheese listings on our shelf that give a size both say roughly 4 inches. Some of the others use hand terms instead, like “fills both hands”, without a number.

What is in the giant cheese squishy?

Where our listings name it, foam. Nineteen of our 36 cheese listings mention foam, three specify PU foam, and none mention gel, liquid or beads. Our Giant Cheese Squishy listing does not name a material; it describes a block that “folds, holds, then lumbers back to a cube”.

Is a big cheese squishy a good cheese stress ball for small hands?

It depends on the hands. Two of the big listings are about 4 inches and are described as needing both hands. For one small hand, the listings that say “palm” or “pocket”, like the 2.4-inch Swiss block or the mini cube, are a closer fit.
